During the 26-30 September I had the pleasure to take part on the 11th International Symposium on the Biology and Management of Coregonid Fishes in beautiful Austrian Mondsee. The symposium consisted of several sessions including Biology, life history and population dynamic, Evolutionary Ecology and Genetics, Fisheries management and stock assessment, Conservation, Behaviour and vertical migration and finally Aquaculture and rearing where we got a possibility to introduce our partial results from our two-year work on hormonally induced and synchronized ovulation in northern whitefish (Coregonus peled) and its effect on egg quality (Svinger and Kouril). I met really a big number of very interesting people working on coregonids mainly from Finland, Norway, UK, USA, Canada and Germany with hope for future cooperation. We would like to express our thanks to Austrian Academy of Science and especially to Dr. Josef Wanzenböck and Dr. Sabine Wanzenböck, for their nice and well organizated conference.
