On Monday, May 13, 2013 two foreign guests concurrently visited our faculty. Alexander Glubokov, the head of the Department of International Cooperation of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography in Moscow with Nikolina Kovaceva, the head of the Laboratory of Protection and Breeding of Shellfish of the same institute visited the Faculty during their holiday spent in the Czech Republic.

On Tuesday, 14th of May from 7 pm, two scientists from the FFPW USB had a seminar called „Our fisheries: fish farming and fishing in the Czech Republic“ at a school in Veselí nad Lužnicí. In the first part, a lecturer Jan Kouřil introduced the issues of fish farming in history and nowadays to the public. He compared the traditional pond aquaculture and modern recirculation systems.

Thanks to the involvement of the FFPW USB in the project of the 7th RP Aquaexcel, we were visited by Dr. Güneş Yamaner a Prof. Devrim Memis from the University Istanbul, who have used our hatchery to realize the project called "Cryoresistance of carp sperm". This project, which was approved in the 3rd call for submission of proposals for the use of foreign partner research infrastructures, last two weeks.

Regular meeting of the Fish Breeding Council, Fish Farmers´ Association of the Czech Republic was held in the large meeting room of RIFCH on May 2, 2013, from 9,30 a.m. Dean of the faculty Prof. Linhart welcomed all participants in the reconstructed premises. The main task was to summarize the evaluation of performance traits in fish for tests conducted in 2012, to present applications for subvention for fish performance testing in 2013 by representatives of the respective fish farms and to evaluate these applications.

On 23 April 2013 was signed the decision to grant the project "Modernization FFPW USB" for the amount of almost CZK 50 million to be invested in the reconstruction of the building of faculty at Husova street in Ceske Budejovice.
