About event
Don't miss a special event - Scientists' Night, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. This year's theme is "Wealth." A society is only rich if it uses the wealth of the mind. A society that uses its cultural and natural resources wisely and uses technology to advance itself. Join us in discovering the hidden treasures of science in all its forms!
Look forward to lab tours, lectures, interactive experiences and much more.
The event is designed for children, adults and seniors - in short, anyone interested in discovering the riches of science. Meet our scientists who will show you how fascinating and fun science can be!
Program at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB:
Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB, ZR building, ul. Na Sádkách 1780
-
The richness of aquatic ecosystems
Plankton, aquatic invertebrates, fish, amphibians, water birds and mammals. All of this will be on display at a stand prepared by scientists and fishermen from the faculty and the Secondary Fishing School in Vodnany. Visitors will learn about rare and endangered species of our waters and will be able to take part in interactive tasks.
- Water over gold
Turning a copper coin into gold or making your own fruit caviar? No problem for scientists. But the greatest wealth is clean, drinkable water. Come and help us make a filtration device or clean up a messy pond. You'll learn that even clear water can harbor dangerous substances and that it's up to us how much is in the water.
-
The wealth hidden in the cell
At our site you will try pipetting and help save the fish population - you will be transferring germ cells! You'll peek into the microscope to see a special fish hero called the halanchi, its embryos, tiny crustacean larvae and even a dancing shrimp. You'll make your own fish treasure, discover how our cell chamber works, and take a quiz to find out who is the king of underwater riches!
Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB, Aquaponic greenhouse, university campus
- The richness of aquaponics
Aquaponics combines fish farming with plant cultivation in a closed recirculating system, effectively recycling water and nutrients. This innovative approach delivers environmental, nutritional and technological richness - enabling the sustainable production of fresh food with minimal impact on natural resources. In addition to tours of the aquaponic system, an interactive program will be provided for visitors.
Institute of Aquaculture and Protection of Waters FFPW USB, Laboratory of Machine Vision in Aquaculture and Water Protection, Zámek 136, Nové Hrady
- Technology and AI in aquaculture and water protection
Come and "touch" the outputs of the laboratory's research projects. There will be camera systems, technologies used in aquaculture and also a presentation of what artificial intelligence can do in aquaculture and water protection. A "macro" and "micro" world awaits you, as well as an interesting escape game!
