About the Institute
The Research Institute of Fish Culture and Hydrobiology /RIFCH/ is a scientific institution focused on research in the field of fisheries and aquatic environmental protection. The institute was founded in 1921. In 1996, it became part of the structure of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, and since 2009 it has been a key component of the newly established Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters.

Education is also a key activity of the institute. We are actively involved in teaching and supervising students in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programmes.
The Research Institute of Fish Culture and Hydrobiology and its laboratories are engaged in the activities of the faculty research centre CENAKVA. Through CENAKVA, the Institute provides open access to the infrastructure and services of its individual laboratories.
