Scholarships

The requirements for granting and paying scholarships are based on Act No. 111/1998 Coll., the Higher Education Act, as amended, as well as on the Scholarship, Bursary and Grant Regulations of the University of  South Bohemia, and on the applicable Dean’s decisions.

Extraordinary scholarship to support bachelor's students with good study prerequisites

Scholarship amount?

The scholarship is divided into four categories, according to high school results. Students can get CZK 5,000 to 10,000.

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be obtained by any student of the 1st year of a bachelor study program who:

  • studies the full-time mode of bachelor's study,
  • is enrolled for the first time at FFPW,
  • no more than 3 years have passed since graduation,
  • meets the limit values of the secondary school grade average according to the relevant categories.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

It is not necessary to apply for this scholarship - if the requirements specified above are met, it is awarded automatically.

Accommodation Scholarship

Scholarship amount?

The scholarship is awarded four times a year, always quarterly. It is possible to obtain approximately CZK 500 for each month when a student is entitled to a scholarship. The exact amount that the student will receive is always stated in the decision to award a scholarship, which will be sent to the student via e-mail.

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be awarded to any student who:

  • studies full-time mode of a bachelor, postgraduate master, or Ph.D. study program,
  • has not exceeded the standard length of study specified for his/her study program
  • has a permanent residence outside of the district of the place of study (ie. České Budějovice or Vodňany)

Need-based (Social) Scholarship

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be awarded to any student who:

  • has not exceeded the standard length of study specified for his/her study program
  • proves (by a written confirmation issued by the state social support body under the heading "Communication for the Purpose of Awarding a Scholarship") that the income in the family ascertained for the purpose of awarding child benefit did not exceed 1.5 times the family subsistence level in the relevant period.

Merit-based scholarship

Scholarship amount?

The merit scholarship is divided into three categories, according to the weighted grade avarage for the previous academic year. In the academic year 2024/2025, the amount of the merit scholarship is CZK 13,500 to 27,000.

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be awarded to any student who:

  • studies full-time mode of a bachelor, postgraduate master, or Ph.D. study program,
  • obtained at least 60 credits in the previous academic year,
  • reached a weighted grade average of no more than 1.60in the previous academic year.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

It is not necessary to apply for this scholarship - it will be awarded automatically to any student who meets all the above requirements.

Extraordinary scholarship for Talented Students

Scholarship amount?

The scholarship is divided into three categories: students can be awarded a scholarship in the amount of CZK 8,000 to 16,000 per month.

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be awarded to any student who:

  • studies full-time mode of a bachelor or postgraduate master study program,
  • registered for courses in the total amount of at least 60 credits in the previous academic year,
  • reached a weighted grade average of no more than 1.5 in the previous academic year,
  • completed at least two required activities (see below).

How can I apply for the scholarship?

It is necessary to apply for the scholarship via IS STAG by 15 October of the given year.

Which category of scholarship can I be awarded?
 
Double the basic amount
  • Weighted grade average for the previous academic year: 1.00 - 1.20
  • Completing at least one of the following activities:
    • important participation in the laboratory´s activities at the FFPW USB in the extent of at least 100 hours (assistance free of charge within or beyond the scope of work for the bachelor´s/master´s thesis)
    • submitting a manuscript for publishing or actively presenting own results at a conference
    • studying abroad for at least 1 semester (acquiring 18 ECTS credits)
  • Completing at least two of the following activities:
    • involvement in exhibitions and promotion of the faculty
    • assistance to teachers/faculty with teaching at the faculty
    • significant sports or other success under the auspices of the USB or the FFPW USB
 One and a half time the basic amount
  • Weighted study average for the previous academic year: 1.21 - 1.50
  • Completing at least one of the following activities:
    • important participation in the laboratory´s activities at the FFPW USB in the extent of at least 100 hours (assistance free of charge within or beyond the scope of work for the bachelor´s/master´s thesis
    • submitting a manuscript for publishing or actively presenting own results at a conference
    • studying abroad for at least 1 semester (acquiring 18 ECTS credits)
  • Completing at least two of the following activities:
    • involvement in exhibitions and promotion of the faculty
    • assistance to teachers/faculty with teaching at the faculty
    • significant sports or other success under the auspices of the USB or the FFPW USB

Basic amount

  • Weighted study average for the previous academic year: 1.00 - 1.50
  • Completing at least one of the following activities:
    • important participation in the laboratory´s activities at the FFPW USB in the extent of at least 100 hours (assistance free of charge within or beyond the scope of work for the bachelor´s/master´s thesis
    • submitting a manuscript for publishing or actively presenting own results at a conference
    • studying abroad for at least 1 semester (acquiring 18 ECTS credits)
  • Completing at least one of the following activities:
    • involvement in exhibitions and promotion of the faculty
    • assistance to teachers/faculty with teaching at the faculty

Compensatory scholarship

Who is eligible?

  • Full-time bachelor’s and postgraduate master’s students in their last year of study (the year when they complete their studies) who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance.

  • Full-time bachelor’s and postgraduate master’s students who have submitted a thesis demonstrating outstanding research, innovation, or other creative contributions that significantly advance knowledge in their field.

  • Full-time students of all levels who have achieved RIV-eligible outputs (RIV is a Czech system designed to evaluate research and development).

  • Full-time bachelor’s and master’s students who have demonstrated excellent performance and results during their entire studies - the Dean's Award and the Rector's Award.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

Students usually do not apply. If the requirements are met, the scholarship is awarded automatically

Extraordinary scholarship for athletes

Scholarship amount?

The amount awarded for outstanding sports performance depends on the significance of the achievement and can be up to CZK 5,000.
The extraordinary scholarship supporting sports activities may reach up to CZK 10,000 per academic year.

Who is eligible?

These scholarships may be awarded to students at all levels of study who have not exceeded the standard period of study:

  • for outstanding placements in national, international, or university-level competitions (championships), provided that the achievement is published in the news section of the FFPW USB website;
  • to support participation in major sporting events, training activities, or athletic performance.

How can I apply for the scholarship?

Scholarship awarded for outstanding sports performance: Students do not apply this scholarship; it is awarded on the basis of a proposal submitted by members of the USB management or the management of USB faculties

Scholarship to support studies abroad

Who is eligible?

Any full-time student of FFPW USB who has not exceeded the standard period of study is eligible to receive a scholarship to support their studies, participation in practical training, or internships abroad.

Scholarship for support research, development and innovation activities

Who is eligible?

The scholarship can be awarded to any full-time student at any level of study who actively participates in research, development and innovation activities in the laboratories of the FFPW USB.

Furthermore, the scholarship can be used to support outstanding theses which successfully address practice-related issues etc.
