About the Unit
Processing Unit and Shop with Fish and Aquaculture Products is a modern workplace where fish delicacies are professionally prepared, catering services are provided, student practical training takes place, and workshops are organized for employees and the general public.
Fish Processing Unit
The facility is mainly used for educating students and the general public, scientific research, and commercial production of fish and fish products, including the pre-Christmas distribution of the unique "Omega3 carp". Specialized products include ethically produced Sturgeon Friendly Caviar“.
The workplace is equipped with all the elements of a modern food processing facility and enables cooperation with the commercial sector in the testing and innovation of technologies.
The processing plant characterizes and evaluates fish as an input raw material for market use in the retail network. At the same time, employees, in cooperation with faculty students, develop new recipes for fish products (e.g., fish pate or carefully processed durable products) and verify their marketability.
The "Fish for Health" store was established by the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Water, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in 2012 with the aim of offering traditional and non-traditional fish products to the public.
The e-shop offers a wide range of products – from fresh and cooled fish to sterilized products and delicacies such as spreads, salads, and special products such as sturgeon or rainbow trout caviar.
