Workshop on the project TAČR – Environment for Life 2

On Wednesday, 26 March 2025, the Ministry of the Environment held a introductory workshop for the TAČR project, Environment for Life 2 - Equipment for field eradication of invasive species, which deals with the development of technologies and methods for the removal of invasive species from natural ecosystems. The project involves the joint participation of the Processing Unit and Shop with Fish and Aquaculture Products, the Freshwater Ecosystems Laboratory and the technology company 4Jtech s.r.o. The main objective of the project is to innovate equipment for the field killing of species of interest at the point of occurrence and to minimise the risks associated with the possible escape of live specimens during transport and further handling.

Participants were introduced to the basic issues of invasive fish species. This was followed by a presentation of the individual project objectives and timetable for deliverables. At the end of the workshop, a discussion was held with representatives of the concerned entities (companies of the Basin Authority, AOPK ČR, MZE, ČRS, operational fishing companies...), who agreed that the facility will be a significant asset for the functional management of invasive species and promised active cooperation if necessary.
