1st General Assembly & 2nd Steering Committee meeting, León, 25-26th May 2022

NeoGiANT - The power of grape extracts: antimicrobial and antioxidant properties to prevent the use of antibiotics in farmed animals.

On May 25 - 26th, 2022, in León (Spain), the consortium of the NeoGiANT project gathered at Vivero de Empresas de la Universidad de León to hold the 1st General Assembly, including the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the project. Borys Dzyuba and Serhii Boryshpolets attended the meeting with 60 other participants (in present and online) from 13 institutions and 11 working panels (WP) (Photo 1). Different WP project leaders presented the progress of the project. Promising results were reported from the WP2, dealing with extract formulation and composition. The possibility of obtaining dry (lyophilized) extracts for future application was also reported and actively discussed. Our initial experimental results on the effect of polyphenolic extracts on fish spermatozoa motility and storage were presented by Felipe Martínez Pastor in the frame of the WP6 report. The meeting has followed by an excursion to the historical center of the town and the diner (Photo 2). In the frame of our visit to Leon, we also attended the Leon University, where we gave talks about fish sperm physiology. We also discussed our further plans and experiments with the WP leader.
