From March 14 to March 18, 2022, we made a business trip to the Bern University of Applied Science to participate on European Percid Fish Culture Association meeting. In total, 27 representatives from academia and production attended the meeting. The meeting included a discussion on the possibilities of a centralized and decentralized selection program for currently farmed percids. Lectures on the topic: "What is needed to set up a selective breeding program: make them simple, pragmatic and useful" (Thomas Lecocq - University of Lorraine) and "Selective breeding programs: how to improve them" (Emmanuouil Diakos (University of Lorraine) were given. The meeting also included excursions to Tropenhaus Frutigen (perch, Siberian, and Russian sturgeon breeding, automated perch fillet processing line, caviar production line) and Swifish AG (perch production and processing).
