Staff Teaching Mobility Report – Bangkok, Thailand (ERASMUS+)
From 16 April to 30 April 2026 (including travel), I completed an ERASMUS+ staff teaching mobility hosted by the Center of Excellence in Fish Infectious Diseases (CE FID/FIDRU), Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. I arrived in Thailand on 18 April 2026 and officially commenced the mobility activities on 20 April 2026.
The primary aims of the visit were to deliver academic teaching and to strengthen institutional cooperation in the field of freshwater fish health. During the teaching period (20–24 April 2026), I delivered sessions covering freshwater fish pathogens, outbreak investigation and diagnostic workflows (including sampling strategies, bacteriological approaches, and relevant molecular methods), responsible antimicrobial use, and practical alternatives to antibiotics in aquaculture (biosecurity measures, management-based prevention, and research approaches to reduce antibiotic dependence). The teaching activities were delivered in an interactive format and included discussion of case-based examples relevant to local aquaculture conditions.
In addition, I participated in practical field and laboratory-related activities. I visited the Snakeskin gourami fish farm (Samut Sakhon) and provided hands-on guidance to students on sample collection, fish dissection/necropsy, and bacterial plating techniques for microbiological examination.
Overall, this mobility strengthened collaboration between the University of South Bohemia (FFPW) and Chulalongkorn University and established a clear foundation for follow-up cooperation, including guest lectures, future staff/student exchanges, and potential joint research and teaching initiatives in fish infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship.
