Staff Training Mobility Report – Chiang Mai, Thailand (ERASMUS+)
From 14 July to 26 July 2026 including travel, I completed an ERASMUS+ staff training/research mobility at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. The mobility focused on sharing the molecular based technical skills, biofloc-based aquaculture, probiotic/postbiotic development, and fish health research.
During the stay, I participated in technical discussions and practical training on biofloc experiment management, fish feeding, and the development of beneficial probiotic bacterial strains for fish health and sustainable aquaculture. I was also involved in sample collection, including mucus, blood, and intestine samples, followed by laboratory training in DNA extraction, sample quantification, and preparation of samples for downstream molecular analysis.
The mobility also provided important exposure to techniques useful for future collaborative research, including specific immune gene expression analysis, molecular monitoring of fish health, and the possible development of a fish immune gene array for evaluating host responses under biofloc and probiotic treatments. These methods are directly relevant to our ongoing aquaculture research and future project planning.
Overall, the mobility was productive and strengthened scientific cooperation between Chiang Mai University and the University of South Bohemia (FFPW). It created a strong basis for future collaboration on fish probiotics, immune response studies, molecular diagnostics, and sustainable biofloc aquaculture systems.
