Delegation of the STAN Movement Visits the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB
On 20 April 2026, the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB was visited by a delegation of the STAN movement led by its chairman Vít Rakušan. The delegation also included Pavla Pivoňková Vaňková, Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
During the working meeting, the guests were introduced to the educational, scientific‑research and commercial activities of the Faculty. The delegation learned about the activities of laboratories focused on environmental chemistry, biochemistry and toxicology, and also visited the Genetic Fisheries Centre and the Laboratory of Germ Cells, where they had the opportunity to see the largest sturgeon collection in Europe.
At the Experimental Fish Culture Facility and within the experimental infrastructure, semi‑operational farming of koi carp, pikeperch and trout in recirculating aquaculture systems was presented, along with experimental crayfish breeding and pontoon‑based pikeperch farming using the “pond‑within‑a‑pond” system.
Light refreshments featuring fish‑based specialities were prepared by the Faculty’s processing facility. Guests had the opportunity to taste carp and salmon tartare as well as several types of canapés, including those topped with sturgeon caviar.
The entire meeting took place in a very pleasant and informal atmosphere. We would like to thank all participants for their visit and for their interest in the activities of our Faculty.
