The January and February issues of Rybářství magazine feature an engaging two-part series dedicated to fascinating sturgeons – fish with an ancient history dating back to the age of dinosaurs, which still inspire respect and admiration today.
Among other things, the articles reveal that the Genetic Fisheries Centre of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters, University of South Bohemia in Vodňany, houses the largest collection of sturgeon species in the Czech Republic and probably even worldwide. The series explores not only the history and evolution of sturgeons, but also the importance of their conservation, breeding, and research today.
Are you interested in the evolutionary journey of sturgeons? Which species are bred at the Genetic Fisheries Centre? And why is this collection so exceptional?
