Since June 2026, the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB has been a partner in the new European project DIVERSIFY4Future — Diversifying Aquaculture for the Future: Inclusion of Low-Trophic Species for Sustainable, Innovative, Healthy, and Circular Food Systems.
The project is coordinated by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in Greece and involves 34 European partners.
The principal investigator for the FFPW USB is MSc. Koushik Roy, Ph.D. and the project manager is Bc. Monika Malkusová.
In this project, the team led by Dr. Roy is focusing on the development of feed for fish raised in aquaponic systems. The goal is to create feeds that will simultaneously support the healthy growth of both fish and plants. The development of these feeds draws on knowledge of fish nutritional needs and nutrient cycling in ecosystems. By integrating these fields, the project seeks solutions that will improve nutrient use in aquaponics and contribute to more sustainable food production.
The DIVERSIFY4Future project will run for 4 years, till May 2030.
This project is funded by the European Union under the HORIZON Innovation Actions program based on Grant Agreement No. 101286791.
