Successful Business Mission in Kazakhstan under the Auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture
The Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters, University of South Bohemia (Tomáš Policar), together with a colleague from the commercial fish company Happy Fish Ltd. Tábor (Jan Hora), participated in a successful business mission in Kazakhstan from 18th to 24th October 2025. The mission was initiated and organized by Pavel Sekáč, Director General of the Section for EU Funds, Foreign Affairs and Trade Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The aim of the mission was to support Czech agricultural enterprises and universities in developing mutual trade and research cooperation with Kazakh partners, thereby promoting the export of Czech agricultural products, animals, machinery, and technologies to Kazakhstan.
As part of the mission, participants actively presented their work at the KazAgro 2025 fair in Astana and took part in two B2B meetings with Kazakh agricultural entrepreneurs in the Zhetysu and Almaty regions. Furthermore, the delegation held bilateral meetings between representatives of the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, the Czech Embassy in Astana, and FFPW USB with the leadership of the Zhetysu and Almaty regions, with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan (Kenzhehanuly Ermek), and with the top management of the Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University in Astana (Mr. Rector Kanat Tireuov). In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Czech Embassy in Astana, and FFPW USB visited the Kazakh-Czech Aquaculture Research Centre located at the mentioned university.
During the mission, the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters and Happy Fish Ltd. presented to their Kazakh partners a detailed overview of technological innovations in aquaculture, including current type and volume of production. Kazakh production and research partners expressed great interest in bilateral cooperation focused on innovations in pikeperch reproduction and farming, intensive fish culture using RAS technology, species diversification in freshwater aquaculture, and fish processing.
At the same time, cooperation was agreed upon for the implementation of various technological and innovative aquaculture projects aimed at increasing fish production and consumption both in Kazakhstan and in the Czech Republic.
