From October 12–15, 2026, I (Petr Císař) served as an opponent for the doctoral thesis defense of Ph.D. student Yan Sheng at NTNU (Norway). The defense consisted of public lectures including discussions and specialized talks focused on the thesis topic itself followed by further rounds of discussion. The entire process spans a full day, during which the student must demonstrate not only the results of their doctoral research but also the ability to effectively present a new subject. Following the defense, a collaboration was established with Jo Arve Alfredsen from the Department of Engineering Cybernetics, focusing on a project to monitor salmon migration in Norwegian rivers.
