Business trip report, Slovenia, Regenda

Excursion for ČRS Rada, z.s. staff to Slovenia and Austria from 28th September to 2nd October 2026
From 28 September to 2 October 2026, a five-day study tour organised by ČRS Rada, z.s. for its specialist staff and several guests from Slovakia took place in Slovenia and Austria. A total of 12 different sites were visited, including farms, the Aquaculture Europe 2026 exhibition, caves, Alpine lakes and fish restaurants. The visit to Slovenia’s only marine farm – Fonda Fish – proved particularly valuable. The farms visited in Slovenia are primarily dedicated to rearing salmonid species for stocking local fishing grounds. A somewhat different approach to aquaculture was evident. Rivers springing from the Slovenian Alps are characterised by a good water flow and clean water. These are attractive fishing grounds, frequently visited by anglers from abroad as well. On our way to Slovenia, we visited UnterWasserReich in Schrems, Austria, where we were given a talk on Austrian fish farming. In Vienna, we visited the Blün aquaponic farm and Hauss Des Mares.
