FFPW and CENAKVA at EU2022.CZ, the Czech Presidency of the Council of European Union

An important event happened on 29.11.2022 under the Czech Presidency of the Council of European Union. Discussing future food security in the EU. Employee of FFPW, Dr. Koushik Roy, as one of the researchers in RP3 of CENAKVA working on sustainable aquaculture, was invited as one of the panellists. Koushik discussed alternative solutions, activities with examples from Czech Republic and countries around. He spoke from the perspective of aquatic food systems and linking them with terrestrial food system, retail, society under future healthy diet, ecosystem services and circular bioeconomy agendas. Discussions were focused on future research and education priorities. Activities of CENAKVA were also highlighted. Members of agricultural ministry, agricultural heads in CZ PERM REP to European commission, and EU parliamentary committee members appreciated the attitude, future visions and solutions presently undertaken at FFPW and USB. The trip was supported by doc. Vladimir Zlabek, Ph.D. (Director, CENAKVA), and funds from CENAKVA under the request of Mr. Stanislav Nemec (Head of agricultural unit, CZ PERM REP to EU in Brussels).
