From 1 to 3 October 2026, staff members of MEVPIS FFPW USB participated in a study visit to Austria. The aim of the visit was to learn about the activities of Austrian research and environmental institutions and to gain inspiration in the fields of aquatic environmental protection, environmental education, and the use of natural sites for educational activities.
The programme included a visit to the Kreuzstein Research Station, where participants met with Dr. Franz Lahnsteiner and learned about the station's activities focused on fish research and breeding. The trip also included a stop in the Aigen im Mühlkreis area, where participants observed the local aquatic environment and surrounding landscape. The knowledge and experience gained during the visit will serve as inspiration for the development of new educational programmes and further improvements to the MEVPIS outdoor facilities, including planned outdoor educational elements.
The study visit was funded by the Interreg project ATCZ00180, Living Treasures/Živé poklady bystřin a tůní, program Interreg Rakousko – Česko 2021 - 2027.
