Business trip report, Australia, Franěk, Pšenička

Prof. Pšenička and Dr. Franěk participated in the 13th International Symposium on Reproductive Physiology of Fish (ISRPF 2026), held in Cairns, Australia, from 17–22 May 2026. The symposium represents one of the leading international meetings in the fields of fish reproductive physiology, reproductive biotechnology, and aquaculture. Prof. Pšenička also contributes to the organization of the symposium as a member of its International Advisory Committee.

As part of the scientific program, they presented research results generated at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Prof. Pšenička delivered the presentation entitled “Sturgeon embryos as a model for germline specification: mitochondrial contributions and evolutionary insights”. Dr. Franěk presented two lectures: “Restoring fertility: testicular regeneration mechanisms in zebrafish” and “The turquoise killifish as a rapid model for vertebrate testicular development and aging”.

Dr. Franěk also served as chairman of the session “Spermatogenesis and Spermiation”, moderating the scientific presentations and the subsequent discussion.

The business trip further included meetings with international collaborators from universities and research institutions, focusing on future cooperation in reproductive biotechnology, germ cell transplantation, cryopreservation of genetic resources, and research on fish reproductive biology.
