First FAO-CFA Joint International Conference on Sustainable Aquaculture (Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China)

At the invitation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the China Fisheries Association (CFA), I participated in a series of international expert events focused on the development of sustainable aquaculture, held from 17 to 20 March 2026 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China. The programme included a roundtable meeting dedicated to the implementation of the Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture (GSA) through the Global Sustainable Aquaculture Advancement Partnership (GSAAP), the First FAO–CFA Joint International Conference on Sustainable Aquaculture, and a technical field visit to a modern aquaculture production facility. Discussions focused on key challenges and innovations in sustainable feed and feeding systems, seed supply chains, aquatic animal health management, and technological solutions supporting the transformation of aquaculture. The event contributed to strengthening international cooperation, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience, and identifying practical approaches to the long-term sustainable development of the sector, which plays a vital role in ensuring global food security, nutrition, and resilience to the impacts of climate change.
