Field Trip with Master’s Students: Czech Republic – Austria – Hungary and Slovakia, May 11–15, 2026

From May 11 to 15, 2026, first-year students in the master’s program took a five-day field trip as part of the courses “Rearing of Warm-Water Fish” and “Pond Aquaculture.” A total of 17 different facilities, farms, organizations, and sites were visited in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia. These included various types of operations, primarily fish hatcheries, flow-through and recirculating farms raising fry and/or market-sized salmonids, African catfish, and sturgeon; pond fisheries; water structures; fish processing plants; and facilities for fish and fish products, among others. The program also included a tasting of fish specialties.

The excursion was partially made possible thanks to financial support from the Living Treasures project, ATCZ00180, “Living Treasures of Streams and Pools,” under the Interreg Austria–Czech Republic 2021–2027 program.
