Business trip report, Hungary, Regenda

From 11 to 15 May 2026, first-year students of the follow-up Master’s degree programme Fisheries and Water Protection and first-year students of the follow-up Master’s degree programme taught in English, Fishery and Protection of Waters, took part in a week-long professional excursion focused on aquaculture. During the trip, we visited a number of fisheries, hatcheries, and modern RAS farms in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia.

The excursion provided a unique opportunity to observe various fish farming methods, production processing, and the practical operation of aquaponic systems. A major benefit was the connection of theoretical knowledge gained during studies with real-life farm operations, as well as the chance to meet professionals from the field.

The experience helped us better understand the differences between individual types of farms and become familiar with current trends in modern aquaculture.

We would like to thank Ing. Ján Regenda, Ph.D., the organizers of the excursion, and all the participating companies for their openness, expert guidance, and the opportunity to gain insight into their operations.

On behalf of the students: Lucie Knapíková
