Laboratoř strojového vidění v akvakultuře a ochraně vod

Societal Relevance

The laboratory primarily focuses on introducing modern technologies into aquaculture and water protection.

Aquaculture

Development of low-cost monitoring devices for fish farming that can automate the monitoring of rearing tanks. The implementation of these systems will increase the competitiveness of intensive aquaculture and minimize invasive methods currently used for monitoring. (End users are research organizations)

Low-cost systems for early detection of fish disease symptomsThese systems enable early detection of fish diseases and therefore timely intervention to eliminate losses and fish suffering. (End users are producers of rainbow trout)

Water protection

Systems for monitoring fish migration – Our solutions contribute to the objective evaluation of fish pass functionality, which helps restore the natural migration of fish.
End users – individual river basin authorities

Web portal for monitoring losses caused by cormorants – The portal enables detection and counting of cormorants from drone images, providing an objective way to assess fish losses.
End users – commercial fish farmers

System for estimating water parameters from satellite images – The web portal enables estimation of key parameters of water bodies without the need for physical sampling. This saves both time required for sampling and financial resources.
End users – research institutions, river basin authorities, public administration.

Science promotion

Summer school

The laboratory is also actively involved in science outreach and motivates students to pursue scientific careers through Summer schools organized every July.

Workshops

The laboratory organizes workshops for commercial fish farmers and public administration authorities, where it presents research outputs and explains possibilities for their practical application.
