AQUASERV – Visit from Norway

In May 2026, two foreign researchers visited the Laboratory of Intensive Aquaculture (LIA) in connection with the implementation of the Transnational Access (TNA) project entitled " Evaluating cryopreserved brackish water nauplii as a new live feed for pikeperch (Sander lucioperca)", funded through the European AQUASERV project.

The visiting researchers were Dr. Nils Tokle and Anna Catarina Lataes from the Norwegian company Plantonic.

Together with the LIA team led by MSc. Oleksandr Malinovskyi Ph.D, they evaluated cryopreserved barnacle nauplii as an alternative to live zooplankton feed for the initial larvaeculture of pikeperch. The main objective was to assess their suitability in terms of larval feed acceptance, survival, growth performance, swim bladder inflation, and overall larval quality during the most sensitive early feeding period.

The TNA access was free of charge. The AQUASERV project pays for the experimental costs as well as the travel and subsistence costs.

More information about the AQUASERV project and its TNA program can be found here.
