Clean water, less dirt, bacteria from our workshop!” This is the motto of one of the winning projects of the CSOB a.s. grant program. The project of Mgr. Barbora Zdvihalová and her team, focused on improving technology for nitrogen removal from wastewater, has its first results. In the initial phase of the research, students focused on testing the reliability and functionality of commercially available products, and are further isolating naturally occurring bacteria to test their effectiveness in breaking down organic matter. The goal is to develop a truly functional community of bacteria that can easily handle sludge from wastewater treatment plants. The differences between the various products are apparent at first sight.
