Open Day

On Friday, 16 January 2026, the traditional Open Day took place at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, with all its faculties participating, including the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters. Throughout the day, we welcomed dozens of prospective students as well as members of the general public, for whom a diverse and interactive programme was prepared.

Visitors had the opportunity to see and try out:

  • demonstrations of aquaponic models and the principles behind their operation,
  • tastings of products from the faculty’s fish processing facility,
  • presentations of various freshwater fish species,
  • modern aquaculture technologies and their practical applications,
  • a model illustrating the functioning of a river floodplain and delta,
  • an exhibition of pond models and aquatic organisms,
  • microscopic techniques used in teaching and scientific research,
  • demonstrations of native and non-native crayfish species,
  • lectures on study programmes, the admissions process, and career opportunities for graduates.

This year’s event was further enhanced by a themed photo booth, which was enjoyed by visitors of all ages and contributed to the pleasant and playful atmosphere of the entire day.

We would like to thank all visitors who came to see us. We were especially pleased by the participation of students from our partner school in Slovakia – PV SOŠ Ivanka pri Dunaji. We also appreciate the efforts of all staff members and students who contributed to the preparation and the smooth running of the entire day.
