On Thursday, 10 September 2026, a regular emergency response exercise was held at the Trnávka Water Reservoir. Organized by Povodí Vltavy, State Enterprise, the exercise brought together approximately 200 invited participants, including representatives of fire and rescue services, the Police of the Czech Republic, water management authorities, and companies specializing in emergency response and environmental remediation.
The exercise focused on demonstrating and practicing procedures for responding to accidents and mitigating their impacts, as well as on appropriate sampling techniques and the use of new methods and technologies for emergency response and remediation. Specialists from the Water Management Laboratories of Povodí Vltavy, the training center, and the Chemical Laboratory of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Central Bohemian Region presented sampling equipment and techniques. They also discussed various aspects of emergency response and the investigation of environmental accidents with the participants. The program included a practical demonstration by Dekonta of deploying floating containment booms on a watercourse. The Fire and Rescue Service of the Vysočina Region demonstrated the deployment of a containment boom on the reservoir and the use of a mobile oil separator. Participants also had the opportunity to see a drone operated by Telink and their use in a range of activities, including terrain surveying and sample collection.
At the end of the exercise, Josef Velíšek and Tomáš Randák from the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters at the University of South Bohemia gave two presentations on fish-kill incidents, their causes, and approaches to their investigation.
