Nové Hrady Summer school

On Thursday 25 July 2024, the summer school organized in Nové Hrady ended successfully. This year, only 6 students from five countries participated in the summer school, working on four projects (http://auc.cz/scholaludus/projects/index.php). This year's projects focused on the development of methods for in-vitro water toxicity testing, the analysis of particles in liquids using microscopy, the use of artificial intelligence to detect damage to fish fins, and the development of an automated fish sampling unit. Over the course of four weeks, the students got to know the principles of scientific work, when they participated in the solution of real projects, attended lectures to develop their knowledge, and participated in the accompanying program in the form of a trip and a barbecue. The students had the opportunity to present their work to colleagues from the summer school held in Vodňany, and on the last day they presented the results of their work at the final conference.

According to the feedback questionnaire and discussions with students and project leaders, this year's summer school was successful and productive. The summer school resulted in one application for a Ph.D. study, several ideas that we will use in our scientific work and a mouthful of mutual enrichment given by the intensive cooperation between students, leaders and everyone involved in the running of the summer schools.

The summer school was supported from the faculty budget and from the RVO for extraordinary activities related to R&D.
