On December 10, 2025, a professional seminar was held at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (FFPW, USB), dedicated to the issue of production of pikeperch fry, their ecological and behavioural adaptability and optimization of release processes into open waters. The event was implemented as part of the NAZV QK23020002 project and followed up on the long-term research activities of the FFPW USB and the Hydrobiological Institute focused on biology, ecology and effective management of pikeperch aquaculture in the Czech Republic.
The seminar was held at the premises of MEVPIS Vodňany and was attended by a wide professional public: private fishermen, representatives of the Czech Fishing Association, experts from university departments, scientists from FFPW and Institute of Hydrobiology (České Budějovice, Czech Republic). The aim of the meeting was to share the latest scientific knowledge, practical experience and the results of ongoing experiments, which can significantly contribute to the sustainable and effective development of Czech aquaculture. The high participation confirms the ever-growing interest in modern methodologies of intensive aquaculture and in the issue of releasing pikeperch into open waters, which is crucial for the stability of its populations in Czech reservoirs and rivers.
