Tribute to Petr Ráb in the journal Živa

This year's issue 6 of ŽIVA journal – An Overview of All Nature, which is currently being published, features an editorial and five articles written by students and followers of Prof. Petr Ráb, selected from 15 contributions to the conference Life of Musing and Inspiration: A Tribute to Petr Ráb organized in Mělník this May (Živa 2025, 4: CVII–CVIII). 

Among them, there is an article "Ploidy Diversity in Sturgeons," summarizing the joint 26-year effort of our team at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and the team of Prof. Petr Ráb from the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences to explain the causes of abnormal numbers of chromosome sets in sturgeons and to reveal their possible consequences for the fish themselves, as well as for the breeding and conservation of sturgeon diversity.

The article is a modest tribute to our friend and colleague Prof. Petr Ráb, a long-time collaborator of our faculty.
