At the beginning of 2025, a significant consortium agreement was signed to establish and implement the activities of the eLTER-CZ research infrastructure. This distributed infrastructure for research, development, and innovation aims to be included in the Roadmap of Large Research Infrastructures of the Czech Republic. eLTER-CZ is also an active participant in the European eLTER project under the auspices of ESFRI.
The goal of the eLTER-CZ research infrastructure is to create a national network of research sites dedicated to long-term ecosystem research, particularly focusing on the impact of human activities on the state and development of these ecosystems.
The eLTER-CZ research infrastructure involves partners who focus on various thematic areas, such as long-term lake monitoring, plant biodiversity, forest ecosystems, and more.
The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters at the University of South Bohemia is one of the operators of the monitoring site on the Elbe River (multi-site).
