The Permanent Senate Commission of the Parliament of the Czech Republic "VODA – SUCHO" visited the faculty

On Monday, November 4, we welcomed an important visit to the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection – the Standing Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic "VODA – SUCHO." The meeting was opened by the initiator of the event, Senator MUDr. Tomáš Fiala, MBA, who introduced the composition of the commission and its activities. This was followed by a presentation by the dean of the faculty, who introduced the guests to the activities of the FFPW USB and the large research infrastructure CENAKVA.

The technical part of the meeting featured presentations by doc. Hana Kocour Kroupová, head of the CENAKVA research project entitled "New" pollutants in the environment and their impact on freshwater ecosystems, and doc. doc. Miloš Buřič, head of the CENAKVA research project entitled Freshwater ecosystems in the era of global change. The aim of these presentations was to familiarize the committee members with the scientific, educational, and professional activities of the FFPW USB and CENAKVA related to water protection and quality, the current state of freshwater ecosystems, and ongoing changes in them.

After the expert program, the senators went on an expert excursion to selected faculty workplaces and visited the Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Laboratory of Aquatic Toxicology and Ichthyopathology. The visit ended with a small reception in the form of a fish buffet prepared by the Fish Processing and Sales Facility, which was very well received.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in organizing the visit.
