The "TalentAkademie" of South Bohemian Hopes is a program for additional education of exceptionally gifted students in the South Bohemian Region. It is a three-day program for high school students in various fields. This year's thematic orientation also led these most talented students to the premises of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB in České Budějovice and Vodňany.
At our faculty, students could learn about modern analytical methods of pollutant detection, or listen to engaging stories about native and non-native crayfish in our rivers. In the Aquaponic Hall of Fisheries and Water Protection, the students then went on an excursion, where the principles of aquaponics were explained to them, and how this technology can contribute to solving global problems of humanity. Subsequently, the students built their own hobby aquaponic system, in which they then put fish and planted lettuce seedlings. The students were very excited about this practical demonstration and several of them thought about installing such a system at home in the garden or on the balcony.
