The University of South Bohemia ranks 54th in the world for research in Marine and Freshwater Biology

The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice has ranked among the world’s top 60 institutions in Marine and Freshwater Biology in the U.S. News Best Global Universities subject rankings. Its 54th place globally and first place among Czech universities build on its previous rankings of 88th and 64th.

The long-standing research activities of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters at USB also contribute to this achievement. The Faculty brings together aquaculture and water protection, covering a broad range of fields from fish farming and biotechnology to environmental chemistry and the protection of aquatic ecosystems.

The U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings assess universities’ research performance and reputation based on publication and citation indicators, the share of highly cited papers, and international collaboration.

This result confirms the University of South Bohemia’s growing international visibility in Marine and Freshwater Biology.
