Weekly Professional Study Tour of Students Across Central Europe

From 11–15 May 2026, students of the first year of the follow-up Master’s study programme Fisheries and Protection of Waters and the English-taught programme Fishery and Protection of Waters took part in a week-long professional study tour focused on aquaculture.

During the excursion, the students visited a number of fisheries enterprises, hatcheries, and modern RAS farms in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia. The programme was designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of various fish farming systems, production processing, and the practical operation of aquaponic technologies.

The excursion offered a unique opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge acquired during their studies with the real-life operation of individual facilities. A major benefit was also the opportunity for personal meetings with industry professionals and discussions on current challenges and modern trends in the field of aquaculture.

The experience gained enabled students to better understand the differences between individual types of operations and to broaden their overview of the current development of aquaculture technologies in the Central European region.

Special thanks go to Ing. Ján Regenda, Ph.D., the organizers of the excursion, and all the visited enterprises for their hospitality, expert guidance, and the opportunity to gain insight into their operations. Photos from this interesting excursion can be viewed here.
