Vodňany Fishing Days 2022 and the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB

The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB attended as a co-organizer the 30th Vodňany Fishing Days and prepared a colourful program again.

The MEVPIS Centre Vodňany opened the faculty program of fishing days on Thursday, May 25, 2022, with the educational programs "Barriers in Rivers and Minds". Therefore, the whole morning was focused on environmental issues and information related to fish migration and the World Migratory Species Day. Many thanks to special guest Pavel Vrána from the Czech Fishermen's Association, who guided students through difficulties associated with fish migration and human activities in nature. In the afternoon, we followed up with a program for the public and ceremoniously opened a new "Park of 6 Elements" in front of the MEVPIS building. In the early evening, a mix of scientific and artistic events was prepared - "FFPWWorld", "Caviar slam" and "Hatchery" (original light projection, a combination of musical and visual art).

Friday and Saturday were held in the spirit of education at the MEVPIS again, when a number of interactive activities were added to the awareness of migration. Visitors had not only the opportunity to attend workshops and technical-scientific activities prepared by the Objevárium from České Budějovice, but also to participate in the creation of a 13-meter eel or paint graffiti, which is the latest novelty in the MEVPIS complex. As every year, we also welcomed countless people at the Research Institute of Fisheries and Hydrobiology of the FFPW USB, who came to see other departments of the faculty as a part of the Saturday's Open Day.

In total, more than 2,000 people visited the faculty within the Vodňany Fishing Days 2022, so we can only thank all the organizers, collaborating institutions, the Norwegian Funds project for financial support and, last but not least, the faculty staff who introduced the public to examples of their work.
