Vodňany has a new aquaponic classroom for students

On Friday, December 12, 2025, our faculty school Secondary Fish Farming School and Higher Vocational School of Water Management and Ecology, Vodňany officially opened a new aquaponic classroom, which will serve high school students for both theoretical and practical training.

The new hall is equipped with a recirculating aquaculture system for intensive fish farming, a small fish hatchery for demonstration spawning of broodstock and incubation of fertilized eggs, as well as a greenhouse housing the hydroponic section for plant cultivation. The well-designed concept of the new aquaponic hall was thoroughly presented at the opening ceremony by SFFS Director Pavel Vejsada. The goal is to teach students of the fisheries program modern breeding technologies that are sustainable in the long term and make efficient use of nutrients, energy, and water.

The opening ceremony of the new aquaponic classroom was also attended by the Dean of FFPW USB, Tomáš Policar, who highlighted and praised the close cooperation between both institutions in providing professional education and practical training for high school students.
