Business trip report, Belgium, Gazo, Linhart, Perez-Cruz

From 6 to 10 July 2026, we participated in the international conference "Fish Physiology in Support of Sustainable Aquaculture", held in Namur, Belgium. The conference focused on recent advances in fish physiology and their application to sustainable aquaculture.

The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters, University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice, was represented by three participants. Prof. Ing. Otomar Linhart, DrSc. delivered a presentation entitled "Optimizing short-term storage of common carp sperm: impacts on motility, hatchability, and offspring epigenetics." Evgenia Gazo, PhD presented an oral contribution on "Sturgeon embryos as a model for genotoxicity screening." Laura Ostolaza Perez-Cruz presented a poster entitled "Evaluation of the Effect of Preventive and Therapeutic Agents on Biofilter Efficiency in Small-Scale Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)." The conference provided an excellent opportunity to present our research findings, engage in scientific discussions with leading international experts, and establish new contacts for future collaborations.
