Business trip report, Ghana, Policar, Nebeský

From 13–20 January 2026, we carried out a business trip to Ghana focused on developing cooperation in the fields of freshwater aquaculture, fisheries, and water protection. We held expert meetings with the Fisheries Commission of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), where we discussed innovations in tropical fish farming, the use of RAS systems, promising fish species, and the education of fishermen and students.

We also visited the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Accra, where possibilities for institutional support of cooperation in education and research were discussed. The program continued with meetings with students and academics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi and the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, where we presented the activities of FROV JU and CENAKVA, as well as study opportunities in the Czech Republic.

The final part of the trip was devoted to a practical demonstration of the artificial spawning of the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) and a discussion on the development of Ghanaian aquaculture. Our Ghanaian colleagues made a significant contribution to the realization of the entire trip, and we would like to express our sincere thanks to them.
