From 25 January to 7 February 2026, I visited the same laboratory at HAFL Bern within our joint cooperation project focused on developing alternative protein sources for aquaculture. This visit specifically addressed the use of mycelium-based feeds as a strategy to reduce fish meal in diets for different fish species.
During the stay, experimental work and sampling were carried out with a particular emphasis on analyses of antioxidative protection, aiming to exclude potential negative physiological effects of mycelium feeding. These analyses are essential to ensure both the sustainability and safety of novel feed ingredients.
The visit strengthened ongoing collaboration, enabled close coordination of analytical approaches, and contributed important data toward advancing environmentally friendly solutions for future aquaculture feeds.
