On June 9, 2026, a total of 5,000 juvenile sterlets (A. ruthenus) were marked by the group marking method with alizarin red bath at the facilities of Rybníkářství Pohořelice plc. On June 10, 2026, staff from FFPW USB (Bořek Drozd, Erik Rijnsburger, Jan Kubec, Martin Vlk), along with other partners (Slovak Fishing Association, State Nature Conservation of the Slovak Republic, and BROZ) of the LIFE Living Rivers project (LIFE21-IPE-SK-LIFE Living Rivers/101069837), released the marked juvenile sterlets into the Slovak section of the Danube (Čunovo, Sáp). The initiative aims to strengthen the natural populations of these endangered species in the Danube River basin.
