Ichthyoplankton Sampling as Part of the LIFE Living Rivers Project

From May 17 to 21, 2026, FFPW USB staff members (Bořek Drozd, Erik Rijnsburger, Marek Let, Jan Kubec, Martin Vlk, Filip Kupka, Lukáš Veselý, Pavel Staněk) undertook a business trip to the Dunajské Luhy Protected Landscape Area (Slovakia) as part of the integrated LIFE Living Rivers project (101069837/LIFE21-IPE-SK-Living Rivers). As part of the fieldwork, the second stage of sampling drifting fish larvae using special ichthyoplankton nets was carried out in the Slovak-Hungarian section of the Danube near Komárno. This new method builds on the experience of colleagues from North America. Numerous samples were collected during the activity, which will subsequently undergo laboratory analysis.
