Report from the business trip, Sweden, Avramović

I participated in three months internship (1.5.-31.7.2022) at the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Umeå. My main task was to learn and apply the acoustic telemetry approach to fish species such as Atlantic salmon and Sea trout from the river Oreälven. I was involved in catching mentioned fish species, preparing sedation dilutions, and assisting in implanting acoustic tags into the abdomen cavity of the fish. Subsequently, I was involved in setting and deploying the acoustic telemetry receivers in the coastal area of the Baltic Sea. I met with the output data and their interpretation from a similar parallel study. Additionally, I participated in 15 days sampling campaign of fish and macrozoobenthos from dozens of localities in Southern Sweden. In the laboratory, I did a taxonomical determination of sampled invertebrates to assess biodiversity. These activities were beneficial for my PhD studies and my future career.
