Career Paths of Our Graduates
Throughout its existence, our laboratory has provided a professional and research environment for numerous students who now hold key positions in Czech and international research and educational institutions, or government bodies. With the consent of our graduates and without indicating academic titles, we may list:
Kateřina Marková
"I have been a long‑time representative of the Czech Republic in Casting Sport, in which I hold several Czech and world records, and throughout my sports career I have achieved more than 70 world champion titles. At the House of Children and Youth in Písek, I lead fishing clubs and introduce both children and adults to Casting Sport (casting techniques). I also work as a makeup artist and I am the founder of my own cosmetics brand, Balneum. In addition, I am actively involved in sport fishing and cooperate with the South Bohemian Regional Union of the Czech Fishing Association."
Jan Opatřil
"I am not only a fisherman, but also a writer and illustrator. So far, I have published 16 books. My stories—especially those about Metlík the Carp—have inspired educational trails, theatre performances, English translations, children’s fishing competitions and camps, as well as audiobooks. I also host talks and author readings in nursery schools, primary schools, and libraries. I am grateful and happy to be able to do work that I truly enjoy, and I deeply appreciate the support of my readers. In the future, I would like to write a series of children’s books about most of our freshwater fish species. You can find a short video about my studio here."
