On 14 July 2025, Ms Eva Horucková, a social responsibility specialist from ČSOB, visited the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection. The purpose of her visit was to familiarise herself with the progress of selected projects implemented at our faculty.
Two researchers, MSc. Tomáš Pěnka and MSc. Jakub Kocour acted as guides, presenting Ms Horucková with a detailed overview of their research activities and results to date. MSc. Pěnka presented a project focused on Black Soldier (Hermetia illucens), breeding, while MSc. Kocour addressed the topic of environmental eDNA and methods of its collection and analysis, especially in monitoring the spread of signal crayfish on the Volyňka River, which poses a threat to our native species of aquatic organisms.
The visit ended with a tour of the Genetic Fisheries Center, where Ms Horucková could see our sturgeon breeding facility.
