The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB organized under the auspices of the FAO UN (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) an international workshop entitled „INLAND FISHERIES MANAGEMENT AND AQUATIC BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION“.
The varied program for 15 participants from 10 countries included thematic lectures by experts of the CENAKVA research center, the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB, the Institute of Hydrobiology from the Biological Center of the Academy of Sciences CR and the Czech University of Life Sciences. The workshop program also included practical demonstrations (cryobank, germ cell laboratory, aquaponics), a number of excursions to fish farming workplaces and a visit to the Římov water reservoir or a tour of Český Krumlov.
This educational seminar, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, was organized for educational institutions, state administration and professional organizations with the aim of supporting the development of sustainable fisheries in the region of Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East. The workshop held in the premises of the Faculty's International Environmental Education, Advisory and Information Centre of Water Protection Vodňany (MEVPIS) was part of the activities supported by the FAO UN.
