FAO workshop 2022

The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB organized under the auspices of the FAO UN (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) an international workshop entitled "Sustainable approaches to inland aquaculture and fisheries - advances in novel technologies" from 6th to 12th November 2022, 29 participants from 9 countries took part.

The varied program included thematic lectures by employees of the CENAKVA research centre, which were focused on modern sustainable technologies in fisheries. Applications of new technologies in the field of automatic image processing were presented by foreign experts collaborating on the AQUAEXCELL3.0 project. The workshop program also included practical demonstrations (cryobank, germ cell laboratory, aquaponics), a number of excursions to fish farming workplaces and a visit to the Ohrada Museum of Forestry, Hunting and Fishing.

This educational seminar, supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, was organized for educational institutions, state administration and professional organizations with the aim of supporting the development of sustainable fisheries in the region of Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East. The workshop held in the premises of the Faculty's International Environmental Education, Advisory and Information Centre of Water Protection Vodňany (MEVPIS) was part of the activities supported by the FAO as part of the Artisanal Fisheries 2022 program.
