Carp is as inseparable from Czech Christmas as potato salad. However, in recent years, this traditional fish has faced strong competition—whether from cheaper, often thawed fish species or due to the influence of various interest groups and changes in consumer behavior.
Can carp cope with these challenges? What is the significance of sustainable carp farming for Czech pond management, and could carp meat become the food of the future?
These questions were addressed by our colleague Martin Prchal in a short live segment on the program Afternoon Plus on the ČRo Plus station, which aired on December 23, 2025. You can listen to it 🎧 here.
