On September 25, 2025, on the occasion of the ceremonial opening of the 2025/2026 academic year, Rector of the University of South Bohemia Prof. Ing. Pavel Kozák, Ph.D., presented awards to prominent figures at the University of South Bohemia. Among the award recipients were experts working at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB:
- MSc. Ismael Soto Almena, Ph.D., received the Zdeněk Veselovský Award in the natural sciences category for his dissertation, which deals with invasive species and the economic costs associated with their spread. His research was published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution.
- The scientific award was presented to Ing. Lenka Kajgrová, Ph.D. – the Jakub Krčín Award in the field of agricultural and fisheries sciences for her dissertation entitled "The functioning of pond ecosystems and the optimization of procedures for sustainable management of European ponds."
- The teaching award went to Ing. Petra Plachtová – the Jarloch Award for outstanding long-term teaching work in lifelong learning focused on preschool and school environmental education programs of many forms, leading children's and junior universities, and educational activities for preschool teachers at the FFPW USB, IEEAIC Vodňany.
Prof. Ing. Vladimír Žlábek, Ph.D., from our faculty became a professor last year.
