Business trip report, Slovakia, Syed

As a first-year Ph.D student, taking part in this walking seminar was a pleasant and motivating experience, especially because it was my first overseas event. The entire week was enjoyable thanks to the knowledgeable and helpful organizers. I learned a great deal about European Roman history, archaeology, and cultural preservation through lectures, seminars, and field visits. Furthermore, I discovered meaningful connections between my research on vulnerable fish species and historical preservation techniques. Observing how earlier societies preserved and recorded their cultural heritage provided me with valuable insights into long-term conservation that I can apply in my field of work.

The Western Slovakia Museum, Archaeopark Cífer-Pérez, Trnava University, Gerulata Archaeopark, Devín and Bratislava Castles, the Roman Lapidarium in Komárno, Kelemantia in Iža, Brigetio Museum in Hungary, Azaum Roman Camp, and the Kolárovo Water Mill were among the noteworthy sites we visited. These trips showcased sustainable methods for protecting natural and cultural heritage.

I am grateful to Trnava University, the KreativeEU project, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, and all the organizers for this wonderful academic and personal experience.
